Residence Permit in Turkey
The residence permit application process in Turkey is valid for anyone who wants to stay in Turkey for more than 3 months.
This includes students, employees, non-citizens and foreigners married to Turkish citizens, anyone doing scientific research, and foreign property buyers.
The tourist e-visa can be used by those wishing to stay less than this period (except for countries with a visa agreement). However, they cannot stay in Turkey for more than 90 days within 180 days.
Within the circular sent to the Directorate of Migration Management in April 2022, new rules were determined for foreigners to obtain a residence permit in Turkey. According to the new regulation, foreigners will no longer be able to apply for a residence permit with a rental agreement. Foreigners must be a property owner in order to obtain a long-term residence permit in Turkey.
As of October 16, 2023, in order for foreigners to apply for a residence permit in Turkey as a property owner, the value of the real estate in question must be 200.000 USD. You will need to renew your residence permit every year for the property you show 200.000 USD in the title deed. The extension of the foreign residence permit must be done every year before the expiration of the residence permit.
